DOHA: Occidental Petroleum of Qatar Limited (Oxy Qatar) hosted this year’s first board meeting for the Society of Petroleum Engineers Qatar chapter. Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad Al Thani, Mearsk Oil Qatar Deputy Managing Director, chaired the meeting.
SPE Qatar’s mission is to collect, disseminate and exchange technical knowledge concerning the exploration, development and production of oil and gas resources and related technologies for the public’s benefit. The society also seeks to provide opportunities for professionals to enhance their technical and professional competence.
Stephen Kelly, President and General Manager of Oxy Qatar, commented on the company’s sponsorship renewal for three years: “Occidental has been supporting SPE Qatar for many years. Our employees are active members and participate in sharing knowledge or collaborating to organise events. On behalf of Oxy, we thank everyone involved in SPE Qatar as so much of it is done on a voluntary basis”.
Sheikh Faisal welcomed the board members and Young Professionals members.
Oxy Qatar is also a proud sponsor of the SPE Qatar Continuing Education workshop “The Impact of Intrinsic Motivation on Business Results” by 2005 SPE President, Giovanni Paccaloni. The workshop is open to all members of the petroleum industry and young professionals are encouraged to attend. It is scheduled for Tuesday, 5 April, from 9am to 3pm at Education City, HBKU Student Center.
