Thousands attend Asian Town events

Doha: Thousands of the members of expatriate communities gathered yesterday at Asian Town to observe National Sport Day.

Various sport activities were organised by Ibn Ajayan projects, the managers of Asian Town and Labor City Projects at an open area at Asian Town. 

The sports day activities began with a fun bicycle race at 8am in front of Asian Town Cricket Stadium, said a release.

Following the initial fun race there was sports competitions including basketball (males), volleyball (males & females), cycling, skating among many others.

The winners of each competition awarded with trophies and gifts. 

Ibn Ajayan Projects, the organisers of the event distributed sports day special T-shirts and other gifts for all participants in the games and fun race. 

Thousands from Indian and Filipino communities participated in the event. The Tug of War Competition was organized by Indian Sports Center and Ibn Ajayan Projects in association. 

Sac Qatar won the match of tug of war and the runner-up was Malappuram. In volleyball –female match, the winner was cross fite. 

For the match of volleyball – males M G Qatar was declared champion. The 1st Runner up was Mount Everest, 2nd  Runner up Ibn Ajayan Projects and 3rd Runner up Nepali Warriors.

Ilocos won the basketball match, 1st Runner up was Partizan. Sepak Takraw inter-nation tournament winner was Team Thailand, 1st runners team Malaysia and 2nd runners team Philippines.
