DOHA: Over 80 employees from KPMG in Qatar came together last week to celebrate International Women’s Day by making personal pledges and attending a workshop aimed at raising awareness of inclusion and diversity and focusing on women’s empowerment.

IWD is a global event, which recognises and promotes the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

This year’s theme is press for progress – a call for collective action and shared responsibility to drive change and build a more inclusive future. Employees at KPMG in Qatar and worldwide are being encouraged to do this by submitting and sharing a personal a pledge on how they plan to drive change.

On IWD, Omar Mahmood – Partner and Head Of Corporate Social Responsibility at KPMG in Qatar said: “At KPMG in Qatar, and across our wider global network, we are committed to driving inclusion and diversity. Our local International Women’s Day campaign brought together staff of both sexes to identify tangible actions that we can all take as individuals to empower our female workforce and enable them to progress and thrive.”

At the World Economic Forum in Davos this year, KPMG launched the ‘Women’s Voices’ campaign.

The said campaign raises the volume and visibility of the role of women play in ‘Creating a Shared Future’, and enabled female leaders and opinion formers in Davos and beyond to share their vision, aspirations and solutions for building a shared future for all.
