Qatar Museums, QNL to close during national mourning for Father Amir

Doha: Qatar Museums and Qatar National Library have announced temporary closures during the national mourning period following the passing of the Father Amir HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Qatar Museums said that all museums, galleries and creative hubs across the country will remain closed from July 12 to July 16, 2026, in observance of the national mourning period. The facilities are expected to reopen on July 17.

Qatar National Library also announced that it will be closed from Monday, July 13, to Thursday, July 16, 2026, and will resume its regular opening hours on Friday, July 17. 

In a statement, the library extended its heartfelt condolences to His Highness the Amir, the Royal Family and the people of Qatar.

Earlier, the Amiri Diwan announced four days of national mourning throughout the country following the passing of the Father Amir HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

The Amiri Diwan said the mourning period will begin on Sunday, July 12, 2026. It also announced that work will be suspended in ministries, other government agencies, public bodies and institutions starting from Monday, July 13, with employees resuming work on Sunday, July 19, 2026.
