New Delhi: An Abu Dhabi-bound Etihad Airways flight with 280 passengers onboard was grounded on Tuesday after a fire broke out on the aircraft's left wing ahead of take-off at an airport in the southern Indian city of Chennai, multiple local media reports said.
All passengers were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
Reports quoting local officials saying the pilots noticed the fire while the aircraft was getting ready for departure, prompting an immediate halt to the flight operations and requisition of fire and emergency teams.
The firefighters immediately brought the blaze under control, following which the flight was cancelled
