The number of building permits issued by municipalities in the country reached 1,194 in March, an increase of 8 percent compared to February, according to latest statistics released by Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA).
Municipality of Al Rayyan comes at the top of the municipalities where the number of building permits issued were 445 permits, i.e. 37 percent of the total issued permits, while municipality of Doha came in second place with 215 permits, i.e. 18 percent, followed by municipality of Al Da’ayen with 179 permits, i.e.15 percent, then municipality of Al Wakrah with 171 permits, i.e.14 percent.
In terms of type of permits issued, data indicates that new building permits (residential and non-residential) constitutes 48 percent (573 permits) of total building permits issued during the month of March 2021, while percentage of additions permits constituted 47 percent (567 permits), and finally fencing permits with 5 percent (54 permits).
By analyzing new residential buildings permits data, it was found that villas top the list, accounting for 71% (355 permits) of all new residential buildings permits, followed by dwellings of housing loans permits by 21% (107 permits) and apartments buildings by five percent (23 permits).
