Schools Arabic Debating Championship begins

Doha: Under the patronage of H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice-Chairperson and CEO,  Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, QatarDebate Centre has launched the third international Schools Arabic Debating Championship at Qatar National Convention Centre.

It will conclude  tomorrow. In this year’s championship, 54 teams are taking part from Arab and non-Arab countries. The championship was inaugurated on Sunday which was attended by QatarDebate officials led by Dr Hayat Abdullah Maarafi, Executive Director, and participants in the International Championship.
In her opening speech, Dr Maarafi welcomed the guests and participants and stressed that QatarDebate centre aim, by organizing this event, is to invest in the art of debate and to bring about the advancement of minds in societies for a better future.
A press conference was also held for participants from South American countries competing for the first time in the international championship in its third edition. Brazil, Argentina, Panama and Colombia expressed their delight to accept the invitation and praised QatarDebate centre on being a great host.The Peninsula
