Doha, Qatar: The General Directorate of Traffic announced that it will release new significant numbers through the Sooum App starting December 18, 2023.
The app's 'show interest' window will allow individuals to bid for the number plates. Interested individuals can choose a number, pay a deposit, and wait for a specified time. If one person shows interest, the number will be sold at the quoted price. Meanwhile, if more than one person chose a specific number plate then "an internal bidding will be held between those interested," stated the Ministry of Interior in its statement.
The Ministry of Interior, as part of its efforts to develop electronic services, launched the 'Sooum' mobile application in October to streamline the auctions that the department often conducts.
