Ministry of commerce reports 112 violations

Doha:  The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has found 112 commercial violations during inspection campaigns carried out by the Ministry in November.

The ministry said in a statement today, that the violations varied between expired products, advertising or displaying them in a manner that contains false or deceptive data, in addition to failure to commit to guaranteeing period.

The violations also included non-compliance with recording all explanatory data related to the offered commodity, non-compliance with the price bulletin of vegetables and fruits, as well as non-compliance with conditions related to religious values, customs and traditions.

The penalties for violating stores and shops range from administrative closure and financial fines between QR5,000 to QR 30,000.
The Consumer protection at the Ministry said that it has received a number of complaints during November and they were dealt with and the necessary measures were taken to resolve them.

The Ministry stressed that it would intensify inspection campaigns to control illegal practices and will refer anyone who violates the laws to concerned authorities.
