DOHA: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has started quality evaluation of several private and Independent schools for the new academic year.
A total of 103 schools, including 54 private schools will be covered by the evaluation process, being carried out by the Evaluation Institute at the ministry.
Evaluation of government and private kindergartens which is being introduced for the first time will begin in the second term of the current academic year and cover 22 KGs from the two sectors.
Representatives from the ministry have already visited four independent schools and five private schools for the evaluation, the ministry said yesterday.
The ministry is using an updated evaluation system which includes oral assessment, and separate guidelines issued to private and Independent schools.
Evaluation for the current academic year will cover 49 government schools (for boys and girls) and 36 private schools. Another 18 private schools will be evaluated for the purpose of granting national accreditation. This evaluation is compulsory for private schools seeking nomination for the mandatory national accreditation.
