DOHA: Qatar Charity (QC) has called on local companies to extend help and train the orphans sponsored by charity organisations operating in Qatar for the job market.
“There are about 40,000 orphans and families under the sponsor of QC,” Ali bin Khalid Al Hajari, Head, Foreign Projects Section, QC, said in a statement.
“They are well-cared human resources and underwent educational, ethical and religious programmes. They were educated and trained for the job market.
“Some of them are high qualified like doctors, engineers, teachers and Phd degree holders,” Al Hajari added. An initiative was launched by Ali bin Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Director-General, Sheikh Eid bin Mohammed Al Thani Charity Foundation, during the Trade in Islam Forum held here in July last year.
The forum was organised by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, in collaboration with Sheikh Eid Charity.
The initiative aims to provide job opportunities for orphans once they reach the age of production, said Al Suwaidi.
A database of orphans under all charity organisations operating in Qatar is being set up to study cases of potential candidates for training, he added. QC is sponsoring some 40,000 orphans all over the world. Some of them have reached to the age of production and the job market can benefit from them, said Al Suwaidi.
So far, 3,000 orphans above 15 have been shortlisted. Evaluation continues to know about their situation to continue caring them to make them useful for the community.
Orphans are sponsored until they reach 15, so the plan is to pick up orphans above 15 for training and provide job opportunities for them.
