Doha: Qatar Petroleum International Ltd (QPI) will be the exclusive sponsor of the world’s richest race for purebred Arabians, the Qatar Arabian World Cup, the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club (QREC) announced here yesterday.
The race will run at Longchamp, Paris on October 5.
Qatar Petroleum International Ltd has been associated with France’s most prestigious race meeting for the past six years and became the exclusive sponsor of the Qatar Arabian World Cup for the first time in 2013.
The Group 1 event, reserved for four-year-olds and over and run over a distance of 2,000 meters was given a prize money boost of more than 40% earlier this year to create the world’s first € 1 million race ever for purebred Arabians.

Qatar Petroleum International Ltd is a regular supporter of horseracing events at Al Rayyan Racecourse in Doha, the home of QREC.
