Kahramaa develops skills, creativity of employees

Doha: Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) provided various training programmes and appropriate work environment to its employees for the development of their skills and creativity in 2022.

The Corporation’s management was keen to encourage employees to enroll in training courses that would hone their skills, develop their potential, and provided them with all facilities to join these programmes noted a report issued recently by Kahramma demonstrating its achievements in 2022. 

The Human Resources Department has successfully completed the first phase of the efficiency programme which aims to develop newly appointed heads of departments.

Kahramaa also completed a training programme for national service recruits, and graduated the second batch, which included 30 recruits. It was honoured by the National Service Academy in recognition of its great efforts in this regard.

The Corporation participated in the career fair of Doha University of Science and Technology, with the aim of introducing the institution’s needs for technical specializations and the opportunities available for training, it added.

Kahramaa was honoured within the ceremony (honoring employers from Qatar University) in recognition of its efforts to provide suitable training and development opportunities for students and the joint cooperation between the two sides.The Corporation was also honored at the ceremony (Communication and Honoring Customers), which was held by the Doha University of Science and Technology. 

The report also noted that the Corporation was honored by the National Agency for Cybersecurity, for obtaining third place in the training awareness programmes on cybersecurity that were applied to all its employees.

Under Institutional efficiency, accountability and high financial sustainability, Kahramaa managed all its operations during 2022 according to a pre-established audit plan based on a study of potential risks. It carried out continuous audit tasks during the year on all the Corporation’s operational, financial and administrative operations to assess the level of compliance with the policies, procedures and regulations adopted in the Corporation and all laws in force in the country.

The recommendations that were made by the internal audits of the departments resulted in many positive effects that emerged by enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the organisation’s operational processes, especially in light of the work in preparation for hosting FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The accurate governance and effective risk management took place for all cybersecurity operations and planning the transmission and distribution network and the Water Quality Department, that have become extremely important in light of hosting the mega sporting event.

The report further said, during the year, a system was prepared to link the stages of corporate planning with performance follow-up and monitoring of progress in strategic initiatives. A contract was also signed with a special supplier to conduct an annual survey to measure the level of satisfaction of subscribers of all segments, starting from 2023, in order to confirm the centrality of participants in decision-making in the organisation. 

Quality control engineers in the corporation also contributed to the improvement of many guidelines and documents related to renewable energy, measurement and consumer mapping, and the approved standards in the water laboratory were increased from 7 to 29 accredited standards.

Kahramaa made significant progress in the level of financial sustainability of operations, which was reflected by the credit rating agency.
