Doha: Qatar’s National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) organised in collaboration with University of Lyon Institute of Human Rights (IDHL) a two-day training course on international mechanisms of workers’ protection.
Addressing the training session, Dr Abdulaziz Abdulqader Al Mughaiseeb, NHRC Member, said the course seeks to discuss issues of immigration and rights of all migrant workers and members of their families. He said it also aims to tackle effects of migrant workers to provide a suitable atmosphere for them in host countries.
He confirmed that humanitarian immigration problems are more dangerous in the case of irregular migration.
Dr Al Mughaiseeb pointed out that the course also seeks to support appropriate measures to prevent and eliminate clandestine movements and trafficking in migrant workers and ensure protection of their fundamental rights. He praised strenuous efforts and humanitarian attention given by Qatar to expatriate workers to make available a legal environment that provides them with all job security measures.
He said Qatar is working to deepen these humanitarian concepts.
