Kabul: Three people were killed and nine others wounded in a shooting inside a mosque in Afghanistan's eastern province of Paktia.

Afghanistan's Interior Ministry said in a statement that the shooting took place at a mosque in Police District 2 of provincial capital Gardez city last night when worshipers were offering Tarawih prayers.

The ministry blamed the enemies of Afghanistan for the attack, a term referring to the Taliban. However, no group has yet claimed responsibility for the incident.

On Saturday, Afghanistan's government declared a national Mourning Day to pay tribute to those killed in recent terrorist attacks.
