Ankara:  Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed on Thursday with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani the withdrawal of the United States from the nuclear deal.

Erdogan informed his Iranian counterpart in a telephone conversation about Turkey's position on Washington's decision and said that Ankara considered the decision as wrong, Anadolu Agency reported.

The Turkish president confirmed during the contact with his Iranian counterpart that Ankara supports the maintenance of the nuclear deal concluded between Iran and the 5 + 1 countries.

The two sides also discussed the economic relations between the two countries and means of developing them.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday his country's withdrawal from the nuclear deal with Iran and signed a resolution imposing the highest level of economic sanctions on Iran.

In 2015, Iran and the five permanent members of the Security Council (Russia, the United States, France, China and Britain) and Germany signed an agreement on its nuclear program.

Despite Trump's decision to withdraw and his announcement that the sanctions would include Iran and any country that will help Iran, Britain, Germany and France reiterated their commitment to the deal.
