Doha: Music fans in Qatar were in for a special treat as Polish band ‘Marcin Wyrostek’ and Tango Corazon’ started their week-long performance at Katara Drama Theatre.
The show of music is organised by Katara Cultural Village Foundation and the Polish embassy.
The concert by Marcin Wyrostek’s group launched with an aim of promoting Polish culture in Qatar and popularizing knowledge about the country and its culture.
Marcin Wyrostek and Tango Corazon Quintet gave audience at Katara, drama theatre a true taste of their latest magic of tango, original sounds of this genre and vibes of live performance.
Polish Ambassador Krzysztof Suprowicz said: “There is a great deal to offer to all of those who have an interest in Poland.” He praised Katara for bringing cultures together.
Marcin Wyrostek, is an accordionist, winner of the second edition of Poland’s Got Talent, academic teacher at Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice; and a member of the American Accordionists’ Association.
He is a laureate of over 30 accordion contests (in Poland and abroad), including Detroit (US) 2005, Esztergom (Hungary) 2003, Dunajska Streda (Slovakia) 2003, Reinach (Switzerland) 2003.
In the academic year 2004-2005, he was awarded the scholarship by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
