Doha: The inspection teams of the Labour Ministry carried out more than 35,000 inspection drives last year, during which 6,994 companies were reported for work site violations and around 2,509 companies for violations of accommodation, Minister of Labour H E Dr. Ali bin Saeed bin Smaikh Al Marri said.

In an interview with Al Sharq newspaper, the Minister said that the ministry plays a supervisory role on private sector companies, to follow up on compliance by companies with the labor law.

The Minister explained that monitoring will be tightened on recruitment agencies, complaints will be followed up and solutions will be found, and recruitment offices that receive repeated complaints will be closed.

He added that the ministry is working to launch a comprehensive electronic system for all the services it provides and will be available soon to ensure speedy procedures, especially for companies committed to the provisions of Labor Law.
