13 films from Qatar for Al Jazeera festival

DOHA: Thirteen films from Qatar have made it to the shortlist of films that will take part in the 11th Al Jazeera International Documentary Film Festival from November 26 to 29 at Ritz-Carlton-Doha.
The films from Qatar participating in the festival in the Long Films category include A Single Word; Farah and The Betrayed, based on the official list published on the festival’s website.
In the Medium category, the films shortlisted are People of the Nile; Wheels of war;  Stronger Than Words; and Bull Fighting, Farewell.
And The Parkour; and My Cultural Life - Teens’ Tales have made it in the Short Films category while Temsah; Made in Qatar; Top; and Kumar are on the list of films competing in the New Horizon section.
The festival received 920 entry forms and 775 films, out of which 148 were shortlisted which include 30 long, 50 medium, 47 short and 20 new horizon films.
They will be viewed and judged by a 15-member jury from different countries who will choose the finest films for the coveted Al Jazeera awards, including Al Jazeera Golden Award, Jury Award, Best Director Award, Best Camerawork Award and New Horizon Award.
Special awards, including Al Jazeera Documentary Channel Award, Public Liberties and Human Rights Award and Child and Family Award will also be given at the awards ceremony on November 29
A total of QR600,000 will be given to the winners of various awards. 
Organised under the patronage of Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al Thani, Chairman, Al Jazeera Media Network Board, the festival carries the theme ‘Horizons.’
The four-day festival will also feature an exhibition in which 27 production companies and institutes from 14 countries will take part.
