Doha: Qatar has condemned the criminal bombing that targeted the special emergency forces during noon prayer at their headquarters’ mosque in Asir, which left many personnel and workers dead and many injured.
In a statement yesterday, the Foreign Ministry stressed Qatar’s support for Saudi Arabia in addressing criminal acts that aim to destabilise the security of the Saudi people.
It reaffirmed Qatar’s backing for all security measures taken by Saudi Arabia to preserve its security and stability.
Reiterating Qatar’s firm stance on rejecting terrorist acts and violence in all its forms, the ministry conveyed Qatar’s condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) will host an Eritrean cultural event in November to build bridges of communication between peoples and civilisations.
Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, Director-General, stressed Katara’s keenness to support cultural and social events and activities for Arab and foreign communities as part of its mission to build bridges of communication and interaction between communities in Qatar.
During a meeting with Eritrean Ambassador Ali Ibrahim Ahmed, Dr Al Sulaiti said Katara is also keen to consolidate bonds of love and brotherhood among peoples and enhance cultural and human communication between them.
Ahmed praised relations between Qatar and Eritrea, wishing them further progress. He also thanked Katara for hosting an Eritrean event in May, praising efforts to make it a success.
Qatar experience in investment highlighted
Canberra: Qatar has considerable expertise and experience in the fields of foreign investment, multinational partnerships and global financial markets, said Acting Charge d’Affaires Mohammed Abdullah Al Jabir.
Addressing a seminar organised by Australian Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Australian city of Adelaide under the theme ‘Empowering trade and investment’, he praised investment by Hassad Australia company, a Qatari investment that benefits Qataris and Australians.
On promoting cooperation on education and scientific research between Qatar and Australia, Al Jabir said innovation in education and research is a priority of Qatar and the state has established Qatar Foundation and Qatar National Research Fund which is funding academic research in the country and around the world.
Al Jabir hoped to see more Qatari students enrolled in Australian universities and more academic cooperation between both countries.
Doha: National Human Rights Committee Chairman Dr Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri met Djibouti Ambassador Mumin Hassan Barri and reviewed cooperation on humanitarian issues.
Rome: The Italian president’s Diplomatic Adviser Emanuela D’Alessandro yesterday met Qatari Ambassador Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Maliki Al Jahani and discussed means of strengthening relations and issues of common interest.
Earlier, the ambassador held a meeting with Rome Mayor Ignacio Marino. QNA
