DOHA: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) is providing medical care and health education for expatriate workers in Qatar to improve their personal hygiene and health conditions.
QRCS organized four informative sessions for 400 workers of Galfar Al Misnad Engineering and Contracting company.
Held at the company’s worksites in Doha, Al Shahaniya, and Al Wukair, the sessions involved theoretical and practical training in how to observe personal hygiene standards and prevent health problems, particularly communicable diseases. The purpose of these sessions was to raise the health awareness among the beneficiaries, change their common wrong practices, and reduce their morbidity rates, thus helping increase safety and productivity, which will ultimately reflect positively on the Qatari economy at large. A team of four doctors and six nurses conducted the multilingual course in Arabic, English, Hindu, and Urdu languages.
There were contests among the trainees to make sure they fully understood the content of the course. The winners received 150 hygiene kits and 250 T-shirts. At the end of the course, QRCS team and Galfar Al Misnad agreed to continue the program to cover the company’s 4,000 workers.
