Doha: Commercial Bank, Qatar’s first private bank, has announced that 30 Qataris aged 16-19 years have completed the annual Youth Leadership Acceleration Programme.
The three-day programme is a partnership between the bank and HEC Paris, a member of Qatar Foundation, and ranked No. 2 worldwide in Executive Education by the Financial Times in 2015.
The programme aims to help young Qataris develop essential leadership skills and build confidence to consider themselves as future leaders.
The participating students from renowned educational institutions were selected on the basis of high leadership potential, and included relatives and friends of the bank’s customers.
HEC Paris delivered this year’s programme for the fourth consecutive time that indicates the success of previous programmes.
Attending the programme’s closing ceremony in Tornado Tower were the bank’s human capital senior team headed by Hamad Al Shekili, Acting Chief Human Capital Officer; Prof. Laoucine Kerbache, Dean and CEO,  HEC Paris in Qatar, senior faculty members and students’ families.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Abdulla Saleh Al Raisi, CEO of the bank, said: “Through the bank’s National Development Programme, we are investing significantly in skills and training of young Qataris as part of our drive to develop human capital in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
“Qatar’s greatest resource is its people and the programme is a demonstration of the bank’s dedication to develop this resource for a sustainable future, not only in terms of initiatives for our employees but also for the Qatari community.
“I am delighted that all participants, including  relatives of the bank’s valued customers have completed this year’s programme, which can only strengthen our client relationships.”
Prof Kerbache said: “As a member of Qatar Foundation, our active participation in the programme is a manifestation of our commitment to positively contribute towards the development of a knowledge-based economy in Qatar.
“Through this opportunity provided by the bank as its partner in the programme, we have been able to provide our expertise in designing and implementing a training and skills development programme for the young leaders of tomorrow. I wish to thank our staff at HEC Paris and the students for their energy and enthusiasm that have made these past three days productive and inspirational.
“I look forward to continuing our successful partnership with the bank and our work towards developing young Qataris’ leadership skills.”
