DOHA: Qatar Foundation (QF) yesterday announced plans to set up a specialised school for children with exceptional talents from Qatar and other parts of the Arab world.
The school will function under QF and teach a curriculum designed for ‘gifted children’. It aims to support highly talented young children who may not otherwise have opportunity to develop their talents.
“We are preparing to open a school for gifted children which will teach a special curriculum. We will work on it for another three years. The school will be under QF,” said Buthainia A Al Nuaimi, Associate Vice-President, Pre-University Education, QF. “This will be another support for young innovators,.”
Plan for the school was announced during the official launch of QF’s Young Innovators Programme by Engineer Saad Al Muhannadi, President, QF, on the sidelines of World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE).  “The Young Innovators Programme is a specially designed grassroots initiative, which recognises that a nation’s greatest asset is its people. It aims to empower young men and women by fostering, nurturing and developing talent,” said Al Muhannadi.
“QF has successfully created an academic environment that engages students at every stage of their academic lives. The Young Innovators Programme gives students opportunity to study at one of QF’s state-of-the-art secondary schools and partner universities and take advantage of its world-class education system,” he added.
The Young Innovators Programme’s new member Ahmed Mohamed, the 14-year-old clock-making teenager from Texas, US, was present at events with three other talented young people. Continued on page 3
