BERLIN, Germany: The International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) training course ‘Stadium Safety and Security Management’, has concluded with leading Qatari sporting organisations receiving rare insight and a behind-the-scenes look at the everyday operations of stadiums in Germany.

Course participants included professionals from the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), Qatar Football Association (QFA), Aspire Logistics, Qatar Stars League (QSL) and ASTAD Project management.

The course was a unique opportunity to experience first-hand, what goes into successful safety and security aspects of huge stadiums like the 50,000-seater, Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt, a 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany and 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup stadium.

Participants were highly impressed by the theoretical and practical aspects of the course. They said: “The first day provided a great overview of how to manage a safe and secure stadium. The guided tour of the Commerzbank Arena offered an opportunity to share knowledge and get an expert view on how 50,000 spectators are managed every week.”

As part of the two-part course, that started in Qatar, participants were welcomed at the headquarters of the German Football Association (DFB) where they received a riveting session by the DFB Head of Security and a guided tour by a stadium manager prior to kick-off  as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the venue operation centre of a 20,000-seater arena in Offenbach, Germany.
