TEHRAN: A police officer was killed in an attack in western Iran, according to the official IRNA news agency on Wednesday.
Militants detonated an oil tanker late Tuesday as a group of police personnel gathered at a gas station in the city of Khorramabad in western Iran, the media said.
"After shooting toward an oil tanker which was parked near a gas station, unknown people targeted police officers present in the area,” IRNA quoted eyewitnesses as saying.
The attackers had fled the scene unscathed.
There was no claim of responsibility for the attack.
