Pierre Verlaar Jr of Netherlands took the lead at the end of the second round of the Qatar Open Amateur Golf Championship 2017 in Doha yesterday.
Markus Maukner of Austria is in second place, followed by Christofer Rahm of Sweden while last year’s winner Rayhan Thomas of India is closely following the top three.  Nine Qatari golfers are among the 126 players from 38 countries who are vying for top honours at the Amateur Championship, organised by Qatar Golf Association.
The winner of the Qatar Open, along with two Qatari players, will get a direct entry into the main field of Qatar Masters, a European Tour event, which will be held later this month. The top 60 will play the final round today.
