Doha: Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) men’s handball team is leaving after eight days of pre-season preparations.
Players and staff had come to Doha for training at Aspire Zone Foundation. Preparations were punctuated by time for relaxation, organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) that hosted the camp.
The team explored historic and futuristic landmarks, including Al Shaqab, Msheireb Enrichment Centre, Mathaf and Qatar Science and Technology Park.
Bruno Martini, General Manager, PSG Handball, said coming to Qatar to prepare for a new season has been cemented as a club “ritual”.
“It is essential for the group even though preparations are hard and intense. The players enjoyed one-of-their-kind facilities at Aspire Zone. This year, the tour enabled new coach Svonimir Serdarusic to familiarise himself with his team and strengthen team spirit, especially through activities offered by QTA that were appreciated by the group.”
QTA works to develop a strong sports and leisure tourism industry, which includes attracting people to international sporting events, with Qatar due to host five global championships before 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Rashed Al Qurese, Chief Marketing and Promotions Officer, QTA, said, “The Qatar National Tourism Strategy 2030 recognises Qatar’s outstanding attractions for sports and leisure tourism. We consistently work to build on Qatar’s reputation as a global sports hub while promoting leisure tourism, and our association with PSG helps us underscore attractions Qatar offers to all kinds of visitors.”
