Doha: The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA), represented by the National Cyber Excellence Department, has trained more than 15,000 employees of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) under the cybercrime prevention training programme.
The training initiatives and programmes aim to raise the efficiency of workers and specialists in the field of information technology (IT) and security in government agencies in Qatar and raise awareness of the public employee without specialists in information systems. The National Cyber Security Agency recognises the importance of spreading a culture of security awareness among all segments of society to achieve its goals in maintaining national cyber security and promoting and protecting the vital interests of the state in the face of cyber threats.
MoEHE trainees included 591 school leaders, 10,175 teachers, and 2,638 administrators.
National Cyber Excellence Department Director Dalal Al Aqeedi said more than 12,000 trainees have passed the programme, out of a total of 15,000 trainees registered in the prevention of cybercrime training program.
Director of Educational Training and Development Center at MoEHE, Hissa Al Aali, said the Ministry is keen on its employees’ participation in the training programme for the prevention of cybercrime, and to ensure that the percentage of achievement is high among those who joined the training programme, including school leaders, teachers, and administrators.
She indicated that the Ministry has strengthened its internal policies in general and the Training and Educational Development Center in particular. The follow-up process carried out by the Training and Educational Development Center for trainees has contributed to raising the percentage of those passing the training programme for the prevention of cybercrime. There are also measures taken to implement the programme in public schools, she noted.
The National Cyber Security Agency seeks to enhance cybersecurity competencies at the national level through training and development in preparation for facing cyberattacks effectively if they occur, because each person is assigned a role to play to maintain the security and safety of the country and provide a secure digital environment.
The idea of the training programme for the prevention of cybercrime was launched after testing 95 entities in the State of Qatar to know their capabilities and skills in the cyber field and ensure their ability to protect themselves from cyberattacks.
