Organisation representatives talk with attendees at the job fair hosted at Texas A&M University at Qatar.
Doha: Students and alumni from Qatar Foundation (QF) partner universities attended a job fair hosted at Texas A&M University at Qatar to meet and network with representatives from more than 80 organisations.
Organised by Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Georgetown University in Qatar, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Northwestern University in Qatar, Texas A&M at Qatar and Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, the two-day event was open to current students and alumni of all partner universities.
Organisation representatives present at the job fair talked with attendees about their companies and showcased potential internship and job opportunities. Attendees were able to ask questions about the company, learn more about future opportunities and share their résumés with the organisation representatives.
According to organisers, more than 500 students and alumni from all over Education City attended over the two days.
Students were excited about the opportunity to meet with prospective employers and learn more about the companies they were interested in.
Tanieshaa Shrestha, a journalism senior at Northwestern University in Qatar, said, “I’m glad we had the opportunity to meet people from high-profile companies at the job fair that I was interested to network with and learn more about future opportunities from. I was able to speak to representatives that I probably would not be able to meet face-to-face otherwise.”
Speaking to organisation representatives, many applauded the event and quality of Education City students and were excited to welcome them into future professional careers.
Amer Adlouni, talent acquisition specialist at Talabat, said, “The Education City job fair is really well organised and provides a beautiful platform for companies to connect with very talented students in Qatar. Being able to tap into this local talent pool is extremely beneficial to us as a company to our wider community.
"We’re excited for more future opportunities just like this.”
Engy Farghal, manager of industry engagement and alumni affairs, at Texas A&M at Qatar, who helped organise the event, said, “The collaboration effort with career centres of partner universities has enabled us to host an unprecedented number of local and international companies from different sectors of the economy all under one roof, connecting them with qualified Education City talents from all majors.
"Student organisations, leadership and volunteers have played a vital role in making this year’s job fair a success, while having the opportunity to meet and connect with potential employers.”
