Sepang, Malaysia--Spain's Jorge Lorenzo picked up his pace to be the fastest rider while Honda's double MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez was third-quickest on day two of testing in sizzling temperatures at Malaysia's Sepang circuit.

Demonstrating strong physical prowess, Lorenzo, riding a Yamaha, clocked 1 minute and 59.963 seconds.

The 27-year-old had ended the opening day of the test with the third fastest time behind Honda's Marquez and his Yamaha team mate Valentino Rossi, and Lorenzo said that he was happier with his 2015 bike.

Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso clocked the second fastest timing, 0.052 seconds off the pace.

Marquez who pipped rival Yamaha rider Italian Rossi to be the fastest rider on Wednesday's first testing session, was third on the timesheets at 2 minutes and 0.146 seconds.

Meanwhile, Honda's Dani Pedrosa was 0.297 seconds behind Lorenzo, coming in fourth in the timesheets.

Nine-time Grand Prix champion 35-year-old Rossi who is eyeing another title win this season was sixth fastest, 0.713 seconds behind Lorenzo.

The testing consisting of 28 riders wraps up Friday, but they will return to Sepang for another three-day session from February 24.

The new season officially kicks off in Qatar on March 29. Malaysia will host the penultimate leg of the championship on October 25.
