Doha: The Deputy Speaker of Burkina Faso Parliament, Ilboudo Lauran, has thanked Qatar for helping the community in the African country.
"We extend our deepest thanks to the people of Qatar for supporting the income-generating projects that reduce unemployment and contribute to community development," Lauran said.
With the support of the people of Qatar, Qatar Charity (QC) carried out 93 income-generating projects in Burkina Faso, including providing motorcycles and bicycles, sewing machines and tractors to benefit more than 12,000 people in various areas. The projects were inaugurated in the presence of many beneficiaries and officials.
Under the auspices of the Speaker of Burkina Faso's Parliament, QC's office organised a ceremony to provide 60 bicycles, 27 sewing machines, five ploughs and one motorcycle. These income-generating projects are aimed at empowering the targeted families and individuals, help them overcome poverty and marginalisation and increase their productivity and self-reliance.
Representatives of the Government of Burkina Faso assured that Qatar Charity's humanitarian projects have effectively contributed to sustainable development, which is one of the most important development
objectives of the government. These projects are carried out as part of QC's efforts to support the people of Burkina Faso in achieving development, as QC believes that humanitarian work is not to carry out social welfare or traditional projects, but to implement income-generating projects that contribute to people's sustainable development.
Lauran assured that QC has greatly contributed to the country's development and unemployment reduction through different humanitarian projects. This is due to the fact that QC has constantly endeavoured to be a leading model among civil society organisations that have actually achieved the concept of sustainable development.
