Doha:  Vice Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking Dr. Turki Al Mahmoud affirmed that the State of Qatar, through its various governmental institutions and national legislations, criminalizes and prohibits all forms of slavery, such as human trafficking, child exploitation, violence, coercion and deception at work, in addition to the abuse of power.

In a speech during the opening ceremony of the "Freedom Art Exhibition", in which the committee participated in cooperation with the Msheireb Museums to shed light on artworks related to eliminating all forms of slavery, HE Al Mahmoud noted that the establishment by the State of Qatar of a national committee to combat human trafficking is a clear evidence of its efforts in combating slavery and human trafficking.

He pointed out that, according to United Nations estimates, more than 40 million people in the world are still victims of slavery, and about 25 million people suffer from forced labor, pointing out that the majority of these victims are women.

The "Freedom Art Exhibition" was organized by "Al Hosh Gallery" on the occasion of the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, which falls on December 2 of each year.
