Prague: President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani attended the meetings of the General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee (ANOC) held in Prague on Thursday.
The meetings were held in the presence of a number of prominent international sports personalities, including Dr. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, and Sheikh Ahmed Al Fahad Al Sabah, Chairman of the National Olympic Committees Association (ANOC), who is also Chairman of the Olympic Council of Asia.
During the meetings, the IOC commended Qatar’s partnership and strong support for the institution launched for refugees.
The State of Qatar was prominently present at the Prague Summit with a delegation headed by H E Sheikh Joaan and H E Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Adviser to H E the President Qatar Olympic Committee, QOC’s Secretary-General Jassim Rashid Al Buainain and Khalil Al Jaber, Director of Sports Affairs at the QOC.
The meetings witnessed record participation of 1,300 athletes representing the world Olympic movement.
The participants represented 205 Olympic committees in the world, led by the President of the International Olympic Committee and representatives of international sports federations. The ANOC annual assembly was held in partnership with the Czech Olympic Committee with a view to providing ANOC with an opportunity to present all the developments before the National Olympic Committees, hear the requirements of these committees and understand their concerns and priorities.
