Doh: Last December, Al Shamal Municipality carried out 334 periodic inspections in December, the Ministry of Municipality announced in a tweet yesterday.
During the inspection, officials filed six records of seizure, closure of a violating food establishment was issued, and three food samples were sent to the central laboratory.
Meanwhile, the veterinarians also supervised 202 carcasses, four of which were completely destroyed, and 24 kg were partially destroyed.
The tweet added that the fish were examined in the fish market, and three fish destruction certificates were issued for their unfitness for human consumption.
The Ministry, represented by its officials, carries out inspection and awareness campaigns on various food establishments to ensure the safety of foodstuff and the implementation of the necessary health requirements within the framework of ensuring the health and safety of consumers.
Meanwhile, Al Sheehaniya Municipality, represented by the Municipal Control Department recently conducted a joint campaign against illegal street vendors in Barwa Mukaynis area.
The campaign held in cooperation with the security agencies (Criminal Investigation Department - Al Fazaa), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and General Cleanliness Department of the Ministry of Municipality. The campaign resulted in the destruction of a number of foodstuffs that were prepared and circulated in unhealthy environmental conditions. Legal actions were taken against violators.
