Doha, Qatar: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met on Monday with the Secretary-General of the United Nations HE Antonio Guterres, during his visit to the country to participate in the Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD), hosted by the State of Qatar from November 4 to 6.
During the meeting, they discussed cooperation relations between the State of Qatar and the United Nations and ways to support and strengthen them. They also discussed the developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, in light of the agreement on the terms and mechanisms for implementing the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, and ways to ensure the full implementation of the agreement.
They also discussed topics on the agenda of the 2nd WSSD.
HE the Secretary-General of the United Nations thanked the State of Qatar for hosting the conference, voicing his hope that it would succeed in achieving its desired goals.
In turn, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the convening of the 2nd WSSD in Doha reflects the close strategic partnership between the State of Qatar and the United Nations.
His Excellency also stressed the State of Qatar's firm commitment to international solidarity and multilateral cooperation to achieve social development.
