Doha: Qatar will take part in the Francophone Games, also called the Jeux de la Francophonie, which will take place in Nice, France from September 7 to 15.
Qatar is participating for the first time since it joined the International Organization of La Francophonie (IOF) as an associate member in October 2012.
Twenty five athletes will represent Qatar in the VIIth Jeux de la Francophonie and will compete in athletics, table tennis, wrestling and judo.
In athletics, 16 athletes will participate including Mutaz Barshim, Samuel Francis, Jamal Abu Bakr, Hamza Darwish, Musab Abdurrahman, Mohammed Al Qarni, Muaz Abdurrahman, Jamal Hiran, Mohammed Bakhit, Mabrouk Saleh, Muammar Barshim, Rashid Al Manae, Rashed Al Dosari, Ahmed Dib, Ashraf Al Saifi, and Mohammed Qaideh.
In table tennis, participants are Khalifa Nasser Salah, and Aya Majdi Mohammed, while Bakhit Bader, Hussein Owaida, Abdul Rahman Ibrahim, and Jaffar Khan will take part in wrestling.
Salha Al Badi, Imad Ismail, Mohammed Suhail Afnan will participate in judo.
The Qatari delegation will leave Doha to Nice today. The Jeux de la Francophonie is an event held in a French-speaking country every four years. The games were officially organized and launched in 1989. QNA
