Doha: The Orphan Care Center, Dreama organised the forum ‘Our Feelings’ for foster mothers in a group session titled ‘Inspirational Stories from Our Feelings’.
The forum comes within the framework of the Center’s plan to enhance the role of fostering families and providing them with necessary support by specialists in the field.
A number of fostering mothers and specialists participated in the forum, in the presence of the guest of honour the Qatari writer Munira Saad Al Rumaihi. The meeting was conducted by Dr. Amani Yahya Al Taher, a psychotherapist in Dreama, in addition to the participation of a foster mother.
By organising such periodic events, Dreama aims to enhance positive communication between fostering families and the technical, social and psychological team at Dreama Center, besides stressing the importance of the role played by foster families, and stimulating positive emotional feelings towards the fostering process, in addition to enhancing the sense of responsibility and improving the mental image of fostering in the collective mind of families, as well as training the fostering families to express what they feel freely, invest the past and present reactions of fostering families.
The forum targeted developing programs, plans and workshops to implement the recommendations and proposals.
Acting Executive Director of the Orphan Care Center, Dreama Al Anoud Hassan Darwish stressed the center’s keenness to create an atmosphere of interaction between fostering families and the Center’s specialists, listen to their views and exchange insights and consultations.
Al-Anoud stressed the great humanitarian role played by fostering families, indicating the necessity of this forum being held periodically in line with the conditions of the fostering families.”
She praised the professionalism and transparency of the discussion with view to coming up with results and recommendations that support fostering families, and providing them with all means of psychological, social and legal support and other services provided by Dreama Center for fostering families.
On the sidelines of the forum, the book ‘Ibn Qalbi’ ‘My Sweet Heart’ by Munira Saad Al-Rumaihi was distributed, and the writer signed a copy of the book for the mothers participating in the forum to benefit from its content for the targeted categories at Dreama Center. At the end of the forum, the attendees were honored and gifts were given to children.
