DOHA: The Qatar National Library (QNL) will organise a discussion on the book ‘One hundred great persons from the Islamic nation who changed history’ authored by Jihad Al Turbani, on January 13.
It will take place at the TV Room at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) Student Centre in Education City from 7pm to 8.30pm.
The book chronicles the extraordinary stories of inspiring individuals from the Islamic nation who went on to shape history. It takes the reader on a journey through the Prophet’s era, the successive caliphate states, Andalusia and the Americas.
The book discussion is the first of a series of informative, educational and social activities planned by QNL this month to engage members of the community.
QNL will also host a session on ‘Selected engineering and technology online resources’, offering hands-on training in the effective use of the ASTM International, ASME Digital Collection and IEEE Xplore Digital Library databases.
The session will take place on January 19, from 9am to 2pm at the Student Centre.
QNL will organise a specialised workshop on conducting research for undergraduate students to enhance their research skills to better utilise its databases and other learning resources available online.
The workshop will consist of four research modules covering the research process from searching for information to writing a research paper.
The first two modules will be held on January 27 from 9am to noon at the Student Centre and the other two in February.
Engineer Saadi Al Said, Director, Administration and Planning, QNL, said: “Following on from an incredibly successful year, we are pleased to be entering 2016 with regular and new monthly events.
The library aims to engage undergraduate students in Qatar through a specialised research workshop to enhance the research culture at the university level.
