QMMF praised as FIA event starts

DOHA: Nasser Khalifa Al Attiyah, President, Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) and FIA Vice President expressed delight on the successful start of the five-day 2014 FIA Annual General Assembly, which kicked off in Doha yesterday.
As many as 163 members representing 116 countries and around 800 guests, besides the international media are attending the mega event.
Regarding the meetings, Al Attiyah said he was very happy with the with the opening of the FIA Medical Summit, that kicked off the event, yesterday.
“It was one of the FIA main concern and interest to ensure the sudden rescue process and the safety aspects related to any international event organised under FIA organisation,” said the QMMF President. 
Al Attiyah added that the second day (today) of this meeting, will take place in Aspetar hospital to do practical trials to identify the nature of accidents the hospital usually deals with, to have enough experience as Qatar organise many local and international championships at Losail International Circuit. 
He further added that the QMMF was keen to invite a large number of physicians to attend the meetings to learn more from how to deal with accidents common in motorsport as motorsport is dangerous if the safety guidelines are not available.
Meanwhile, Jean Todt, the FIA President and Professor Gerard Saillant, President FIA Institute, praised QMMF for preparations of the event. Al Attiyah appreciated the acknowledgement, saying it will motivate Qatar, Middle East and North Africa to continue the hardwork for the promotion of the sport. 
Al Attiyah also thanked Omar Alfardan for his support in hosting this international event at St Regis hotel and thanked to all the media to spread this Qatar achievement to all over the world. Meanwhile, Todt, arrived at the Hamad International Airport on Sunday, where he was greeted by Al Attiyah.  Upon his arrival, the FIA President said he was happy to be in Qatar for the second time in the hospitality of ‘friend’ Al Attiyah.  
Todt said he was astonished with the arrangements. He confirmed that the event will be completely different from the previous ones as it will have Karting race in which the FIA world champions of different sports will compete. Todt stated that he is very optimistic on future of the sport with the presence of governments like the Qatari government.
