Indian Embassy marked National Unity Day - Rashtriya Ekta Diwas- to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at its premises on October 31.
P Kumaran, Indian Ambassador, paid tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and recollected his extraordinary works towards unity and integrity of the country, as First Home Minister of India and Deputy Prime Minister.
He said that he can be rightly called as one of the founding fathers of the Republic of India.
Sardar’s role in integrating more than 500 independent princely states in 1947 to 1949 from the British rule through the Independence Act 1947 was praised.
He said that the National Unity Day will provide an opportunity to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country.
The Ambassador also administered a pledge on the occasion. The event ended with the screening of a documentary on life and achievement of Sardar patel.
The apex bodies under the aegis of the Embassy of India and the Indian Schools are also organising the day to spread the message of Sardar Patel by conducting photo exhibitions, quiz competition and screening of documentary on Sardar Patel’s life.
