Doha: Qatar SuperBike Championship (QBSK) defending champion Alex Cudlin won the second race of the second round of the QSBK at Losail International Circuit on Saturday night.
In the first race on Saturday, e Qatari rider Mishal Al Naimi had won the race with a gap of 0.766 ahead of Nasser Al Malki, who came in second place.
Cudlin had finished in third place.
In the second race Cudlin pushed very hard from the first lap and took the lead until the end, winning the second race.
Cudlin crossed the line with a gap of 6.061 ahead of Mishal Al Naimi who came second.
The third step in the podium went to German rider Nina Prinz who was in the podium for first time this season. Cudlin was delighted with the win.
“It was a really difficult race, I am happy to win. I got into the lead in the first lap and I wanted to be aggressive at the beginning, go really hard and try to create a gap. I had to ride really hard as I had a long two days and today I am sick, but happy with this result.”
Mishal Al Naimi said: “I am happy with the result as it is very good for the championship. Even in the race I started in the pole position, I lost it in the first lap and later when I tried to catch up with Alex (Cudlin) and close the gap it was not possible as I found a lot of traffic in the track. Thanks to all my mechanics, special thanks to Ten Kate for helping me this round and also for QMMF for organizing this round with the World Superbike Championship.”
Prinz said she needs to do a lot of work. “I had a good start, I was behind Saeed and I was pushing really hard and try to follow the first four riders, and after 4 laps I managed to overtake Saeed and I came closer to Nasser and Mishal. I change a bit my riding style because the Kawasaki is different than the Suzuki, but now we are in the right way but I have to work more on myself, but really happy with the race and be back into the podium’.
In the Supersport category, the winner was again the Lebanese rider Mahmoud Tannir and in the Losail Asian Road Racing Series (LARRS) category the Serbian rider Manca Katrasnik was also again the best in her category.
