ICBF conducts free medical camp

Doha: Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) in association with the Ministry of Public Health, Qatar organized their 36th Free Medial Camp for workers recently at the Medical Commission Department Abu Hamour.  

A charitable organization under the aegis of the Embassy of India, Qatar, ICBF camp was aimed at providing free medical assistance to workers/ labourers from various labour camps and companies in Doha and Industrial Area. More than 800 people including domestic and industrial workers of at least 6 different nationalities attended the camp held on December 21 from 7:30 am to 1:30pm. 

A team of dedicated doctors from Indian Doctors Club and other medical entities in Qatar consisting of general physicians, specialists in Orthopedic, Cardiology, Dermatology and oral hygiene extended their selfless services to the workers.

Paramedical services were also available from qualified nurses from HMC and other medical clinics. Wellcare group provided free pharmaceutical support and free medicines. The ‘Yoga in Doha’ group conducted Yoga sessions for all the workers throughout the camp. The medical camp was spearheaded by Nivedita Ketkar, ICBF medical Coordinator and has been ably supported by ICBF MC member, Sanjeev Sharma who coordinated to enable workers attendance in large numbers. 

The Medical Camp was inaugurated by the Indian Ambassador P. Kumaran in presence of ICBF Coordinating Officer and Second Secretary (Labour and Community Welfare), Dr Mohammed Aleem, Abdul Rahim Al Mushiri from Medical Commission, Devis Edukulathur, ICBF President, P.N. Baburajan, ICBF Vice President, Mahesh Gowda, ICBF General Secretary, Nivedita Ketkar, Medical Coordinator, Dr Joyal, IDC President, Dr. Biju Gafoor, IDC Vice President, Farook, Wellcare Pharmacy, Jose, Director, Yoga in Doha, Joe Coutinho and his wife, the main supporters of the medical camp, all ICBF Committee Members and community leaders.

The Ambassador also addressed the workers and their general concerns and assured them all possible assistance from the Embassy and ICBF. Sameer Moosa, ICBF Joint Secretary extended the vote of thanks.

The volunteers for the medical camp included ICBF members, student volunteers and members of Viqayaa and Singh Sewa Group.
