RAF implements 38 water projects in Yemen

Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) implemented 38 water projects at a cost of QR3m across Yemen last year.
The projects included ten surface-water wells connected with water pumps powered with solar-systems or fuels, 17 ground-water wells, 10 ground tanks to collect the rainy water
The projects were financed by the Endowment Fund of Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani for Charity Works and donors from Qatar.
It was implemented in nine cities of Yemen faced severe shortage of drinking water. They included Sana, Capital of Yemen, Adan, Lahaj, Abin, Rima, Taz, Al Hadida, Al Zale and Al Hajaf.
The local charity organizations in Yemen like Al Rufqa and development foundation, Al Muhsinin for development, Jusur for development solution and building mosques charity organization. The studies conducted in collaboration with these local partners of RAF to assess the areas at utmost need of water. The samples of water of from the wells of these areas were taken to the laboratories for conducted tests whether they are fit for human consumption after finding out the percentage of minerals and salts. Endowment Fund of Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani for Charity works financed in building five surface water wells and 17 ground-water wells. The funds of remaining projects were provided by the people in Qatar as donations. Thousands of people benefitted from the water projects of RAF. Several areas in Yemen are facing severe shortage of drinking water and those needed for irrigation and other purposes. Therefore, RAF came forward and launched the projects.
