DOHA: The weather bureau has forecast colder nights and early mornings for a week from December 3 to 9. The country will be affected by an extension of a high pressure system from the northern Arabian peninsula during the period.
In a special bulletin released yesterday, the bureau said during the period fresh to strong northwesterly winds will move at speeds of 15 to 25 knots inshore.
Offshore, gusty winds could move at speeds of 20 to 40 knots at times at places.
However, on Monday and Tuesday the wind could lose much of speed. The bureau has warned that during the period the seas would be rough, with waves reaching heights of eight to 12 feet and even 15 in some areas.
Low and medium cloud formations are expected at some intervals during the period and could lead to isolated rains in some places. Northwesterly winds are expected to lead to a noticeable drop in temperatures during the period, particularly at night and early mornings.
Day temperatures in Doha are expected to range between 20 and 23 degrees C while the night could be colder with mercury dropping to 15 to 18 degrees. The southern and open areas could witness colder weather as the minimum temperature could drop to below 15 degrees, said the bureau.
In its routine forecast for today, the bureau said the weather would likely be hazy to misty at places with moderate temperature during the day and with some clouds.
Day temperatures forecast between 25 and 27 degrees and night temperatures between 21 and 18 degrees. The maximum temperature forecast for Doha is 27 degrees and the minimum 21.
