DOHA: FIFPro, the body that represents professional football players around the globe, and local football officials including those from Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee have carried out ‘engaging’ talks on players rights, it emerged yesterday.
Mada Oland, Board Member of FIFpro, met with Q22 and Qatar Football Association (QFA) officials. “I met with Qatar 2022 and QFA officials today. We have initiated a dialogue (on players’ rights) with the football authorities here,”
Oland said yesterday during a brief press conference. “They (Q22 and QFA) were happy that we actually wanted to engage with them. I would say we are equally happy that they want to be engaged because that’s the only way forward,” he added.
“We will be coming back in January for more talks with the Qatari football officials,” Oland said. “We engage in talks wherever there is a professional football league. Qatar has a professional football league,” Oland said while explaining his reasons for the Doha trip.
