Doha Bank, one of the largest commercial banks in Qatar, joined forces with the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) by supporting the Young Professionals Development Programme (YPDP), a new initiative developed by the ICSS aimed at providing fresh graduates and emerging young talents both based in Qatar and internationally with a valuable opportunity to advance their skills and increase employability through gaining professional career experience by being involved in global projects in the field of safeguarding sport.
With the generous support of Doha Bank and its dedicated approach to corporate social responsibility, under the mantra of ‘doing well by doing good’, the programme will award up to eight scholarships annually to young talents providing them with the opportunity to work on various projects to gain professional experience at the ICSS and its global initiatives such as Save the Dream.
Working both at the ICSS headquarters based in Doha and from remote locations across the world, the YPDP participants will be able to gain experience in diverse international work environments by contributing to projects that are being delivered in collaboration with the UN bodies in areas such as: Promotion of social innovation through sport; Use of sport in the humanitarian context; and Protection of children from mistreatments happening in sport.
The young professionals will benefit from gaining knowledge by being tasked with assignments varying from research to project management and other areas of work covered by Save the Dream activities and the overall mission of the ICSS.
Dr R Seetharaman, CEO of Doha Bank, said: “As the Qatar 2030 National Vision envisages a vibrant and prosperous country and an advanced, self-sustainable society, one of the key elements to achieve these objectives is the development of new generations who possess high employability potential. At Doha Bank, we believe that the YPDP programme will make a real and sustainable impact both in the local community and internationally given that the empowerment of youth is a key element of the Sustainable Development Goals that are put in place by the United Nations to serve as a blueprint to achieve a peaceful and prosperous world by 2030. We are therefore very proud to be the first bank embracing the YPDP and to collaborate with a visionary organisation like the ICSS.”
Mohammed Hanzab, Chairman at ICSS, added: “It is our great pleasure to establish this cooperation with Doha Bank and we are very grateful to receive its generous support for the YPDP. I have no doubt that the young professionals will provide strong contributions to our mission thanks to their fresh ideas and enthusiasm. At the same time, I trust that the YPDP scholarships will be a launching pad for many young talents and will create the conditions for improved future employability.”
Slim Bouker, Head of Private Banking at Doha Bank, said: “The Doha Private Banking department has recently re-launched its investment platform, using the Bank of Singapore as a trusted wealth solution provider, sponsoring this collaboration to support Qatar’s local community and beyond. Private Banking Clients are invited to support ICSS directly for donations to this programme as well”.
