Children enjoying an activity at Qatar Foundation’s Education City Summer Camp.
Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Pre-University Education (PUE) has successfully concluded its first-ever Education City Summer Camp, which brought together 150 students.
The camp, was held in the state-of-the-art Awsaj Academy in Education City and attracted school children from across the country, learners took part in a range of fun academic, vocational, and recreational activities.
The Education City Summer Camp was sponsored by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, Qatar Petroleum, and Woqod.
Buthaina Ali Al Nuaimi, President of PUE, QF, said, “We, at PUE, strive to deliver unique learning experiences that are specially designed to equip young people with the knowledge, confidence, and skills they need to excel personally and academically. Our inaugural summer camp was a tangible demonstration of this commitment, and we are delighted with the incredible success and impact it has had on each and every one of the participants.”
Camp activities included foreign language courses offered by Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) Translation and Interpreting Institute (TII); equestrian activities organised by Al Shaqab; and an introduction to falconry by the Al Gannas Society.
Abeer Al Khalifa, Director of Academic Affairs, PUE, said, “Our summer camp is open to boys and girls between 6 and 17 years of age, offering a wide range of interactive activities that cater to the individual needs of each participant. Whether through painting classes, photography workshops, museum visits, or horse-riding sessions, we made sure there was something for everyone at the camp.”
“At the closing ceremony, we were absolutely delighted to see such joy and enthusiasm from the students, parents, partners, sponsors, and everyone involved. After such wonderful feedback, we are already looking forward to hosting next years’ Summer Camp; there are no limits as to how this initiative may evolve in the future,” Al Khalifa concluded.
Sheikh Faleh Al Thani, a parent of one the participants, commented: “As parents, we are thrilled to see our children taking part in the Education City Summer Camp. It has boosted our children’s confidence; the whole experience was very inspiring. My children made new friends and met other young people. As a family, we are happy to have been a part of it.”
Mira Al Jufairi, a 10 year-old participant at the camp, said: “This was the best summer camp I have ever been to.” The Education City Summer Camp was organized in partnership with a number of local institutions, including the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar, Texas A&M University at Qatar, Msheireb Museums, Mad Science, Doha Film Institute, the Visual Art Center, QSports, and the Adventure Rooms.
