Shura Council Speaker HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim chairing the Council session yesterday, June 31, 2025.
Doha: The Shura Council yesterday held the closing session of its fourth regular meeting of the First Legislative Term, corresponding to the 53rd annual session, in the “Tamim bin Hamad Hall” at the Council’s headquarters.
The session was chaired by Speaker of the Council HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim.
At the outset, the Council renewed its strong condemnation of the missile attack on Al-Udeid Air Base on June 23, carried out by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The Council stressed that the attack constitutes a blatant violation of the sovereignty of Qatar and its airspace, as well as a grave breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.
The Council affirmed that such aggressive behaviour runs counter to the principles of good neighbourliness and undermines the foundations of relations that should be based on mutual understanding and respect, in a manner that promotes regional security and stability.
The Council expressed its deep appreciation to the Qatari Armed Forces, under the leadership of Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, for their prominent role in responding to the attack.
It praised the high level of preparedness and swift response by the competent authorities, whose professionalism helped contain the incident and reassure citizens and residents.
The Council also expressed its gratitude for the solidarity expressed by regional and international parliamentary organisations, as well as by sisterly and friendly countries.
In the same context, the Council welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel, and commended the intensive diplomatic efforts undertaken by Qatar to enhance prospects for peace in the region.
