Doha: The State of Qatar reiterated its deep-rooted commitment to the spirit and text of the United Nations Charter, emphasizing its keenness on the UN's continued role as a catalyst for dialogue and unity in our contemporary world.

This came in the statement delivered by Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations, HE Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, before the meeting of the UN General Assembly held on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter in New York.

Her Excellency explained that the 80th anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter represents an important moment to unify efforts to maintain international peace and security and promote economic and social progress for all peoples.

She stressed that the UN's role has become more important and urgent today.

In light of the world facing a large number of conflicts since 1945, there is no doubt that the State of Qatar has always advocated for the centrality of international law and the principles of the Charter, as well as the peaceful resolution of disputes and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
