Doha, Qatar: Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah yesterday ended the group stage of the 2024–2025 Amir Cup Basketball Championship with wins over Al Khor and Al Shamal, respectively, in Group B.
Al Rayyan delivered a dominant performance, crushing Al Khor 89–52. After a tight second quarter, they pulled away with a stunning 30–3 third period. Darius Tyran Clark led the charge with 18 points, while Yousef Yaqoub scored 16 for Al Khor. With the result, Al Rayyan secured a direct spot in the semi-finals.
In the final group match, Al Wakrah edged Al Shamal 92–86 in overtime after a tightly contested game. Aaron Mitchell starred with 27 points, while Faris Avdic scored 22 for Al Shamal. Al Wakrah and Al Shamal, finishing second and third, will battle in the knockout round for a place in the last four.
